Patterson, Franklin, 1916-1994

Franklin Patterson was the first president of Hampshire College, holding that office from 1965 to 1971. He wrote The Making of a College, the educational blueprint for the new experimental college, and oversaw the hiring of the first administrators, faculty and staff as well as the development of college policies and procedures.
